Eastern Christian Preschool is growing! This year, we increased our scheduling options allowing us to serve more children and families. As a result, our preschool enrollment increased by 20%! We recognize the awesome responsibility and blessing of being entrusted with a child’s first school experience.
Next year, we will be offering the same preschool program at Eastern Christian Elementary School. However, our preschool classes are nearing capacity. It is our desire that every Christian family seeking to offer their child with a Christ-centered preschool experience have that opportunity. Therefore, we are in the process of reviewing additional options, which would allow us to serve more families and prevent us from creating a waiting list for incoming families.
One option that we are considering is a satellite preschool campus at Faith Community Church. The church is located at 530 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff, New Jersey on the property in front of Eastern Christian Middle School.
As part of the exploratory process, the Eastern Christian Pre-K 3 Friday class and their teacher, Jenna Beverly, and teaching assistants, Lisa Dykstra and Leida Botbyl, visited Faith Community Church for a pilot day. When the three-year-olds arrived at school on November 11, they rode the bus to Faith Community Church. Once there, the preschoolers did many of the things that they typically do during a regular school day: circle time, Bible, centers, and small group time. The children also enjoyed playing on a different playground and indoor gross motor play in a large room off of their classroom. A highlight of the day was a visit from a group of Eastern Christian Middle School students and their teacher, Naomi Braunius, who led the preschoolers on a hunt for turkey feathers!
We are excited about the possibility of providing more families with a Christ-centered preschool education, and look forward to seeing God’s plan for Eastern Christian Preschool unfold.
